Long Fox

Yanktonai

Long Fox, a headman among the Upper Yanktonais from the Milk River Agency. In 1872, delegations from Milk River and from Standing Rock (known as Grand River Agency at the time) traveled together to Washington D.C. to meet the President. In addition to two portraits of Long Fox by Gardner, there is also a portrait taken by James H. Hamilton in Sioux City, Iowa as the delegation passed through. — Ephriam Dickson
